Being one of a very select group of true industry visionaries in the world of cashmere, Christopher Fischer has been designing and producing cashmere sweaters for over 35 years.
An Englishman based in New York, London and China, Christopher lives in New York and East Hampton on Long Island with his wife, Joni. Together, they are lifetime world travelers, extensively reaching Europe, China and the Far East.
“It is all about excellence, as there is only one level of quality, the very best we can achieve and nothing less.”
Carrying his namesake, this cashmere forward brand was established in London in 1982, with the first Christopher Fischer cashmere factory opening in Hawick, Scotland, the heartbeat of the Scottish cashmere industry.
In early 1990, Christopher took his passion and expertise to the Inner Mongolia region of North China and the grasslands of Alashan. This beautiful landscape is home to the goats producing the very finest and highest grade of quality cashmere fiber, and it is here that Christopher sources raw fiber for his sweaters, spinning and dyeing his yarns to the highest industry standards using state of the art machinery, whilst maintaining traditional hand skills in the finishing of every sweater.
“A great cashmere sweater is the one that is your ‘go to’ favorite, like a good friend.”
Christopher Fischer is now a global lifestyle brand for women, men and home, carried by luxury stores and boutiques worldwide that look to carry unique cashmere of exceptional quality and original creativity, as well as two Christopher Fischer stores in the Hamptons in Long Island and on Madison Avenue in New York City.
Loyal followers of his eponymous brand include royalty, celebrities, fashion insiders in the know and cashmere connoisseurs, as well as customers who simply recognize and appreciate all of the creativity, quality and value of a Christopher Fischer design.
“Cashmere is totally personal, to me, as I live it and dream it every single day. It is sensual to the touch, pleasing to the eye in the colors and textures it can achieve, and total luxury to wear. There is no other fiber for me. Only cashmere.”
